Here are some tips on catching Rock Cod, Sheephead, Lingcod, White seabass. Yellowtail.

Lets talk about Rock Cod fishing, I try to bring the least amount of rods possible on a trip, I bring  3 rods for Rock Cod Fishing for shallow water trip where we may catch Halibut, Whiteseabass, Yellowtail or white fish any 500 or smaller real will work. I can't name brands due to litigation but we have some great reel out there. I use these type of reels with the majority of the line is monofilament topped off with flourocarbon leader in 25lbs for both top shot and main line.

When I go deep water Rock Cod Fishing I bring 5 rods including my bluefin rail rod with my 2 speed reel for those times when we go over 500 feet deep. While others guys get tired after a few hours , that 2 speed reel helps me last all day until the last drift.  I put it in low gear and take my time bringing it up. It will take practice on using that low gear but it will save your arm and shoulder. I put on the glow in the dark Kreepy Krawler lure on both hooks and a strip on squid for the scent and try to be the first one on the drop when ever we move.  I have caught Lingcod and big rock fish using this method.  Chcck out the pictures.
